Year Two: A Permanent Position

In her second year, and at the last minute, Erin ended up taking a job at an alternative school in another state. As she wrote in mid-August 2005,

The thing at H--HS fell through at the last minute … but I am officially the one and only English person in the Second Chance program. I suppose I have a way with delinquents . . . geez, I wonder why … I’m not sure entirely what the position entails. I know there are currently only 20 kids, total, in Second Chance, and the hours are bizarro, 11AM-7PM, because we’re sharing a building with the alternative center and the middle school program. They actually managed not to lose any of my paperwork, so I should be starting early next week … in the meantime, I’m subbing, and working nights and weekends at Steinmart.
